OUR PROGRAMS
SIS International Schools strives

Early Childhood Education:
Pre-K, KG1, KG2 and KG3
SIS offers a curriculum based on
the Common Core Standards of the USA and a technology-enabled learning
environment focusing on personalized learning integrated with the UK based
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Programme.
SIS Kindergarten uses the Early
Learning Goals to help children build strong foundations. The teachers focus on
the four guiding principles’ of the EYFS including the Unique Child, Positive
Relationships and Enabling Environments and Learning and Development and
deliver high quality learning and development opportunities for the children in
our care. The learning and development requirements comprise of seven areas of
learning and development and the educational programmes whilst taking into
account the fact that children develop and learn
in different ways and at different
rates, and that all areas of learning and development are inter-connected and
are equally important in contributing towards children’s development.
Through weekly themes, pupils
develop skills and build a solid knowledge base. Class experiences include
gross and fine motor activities, exposure to math and science concepts, and a
variety of opportunities to develop language, literacy, social, and emotional
skills. Pupils receive additional instruction in Technology, Library, Art, and
Music, along with physical movement and recess. Pre-K students have a daily
rest period.
Elementary School:
Grades 1-5
The elementary years are aimed at
the growth of the pupil’s academic, moral, intellectual, social, cultural,
physical, and self-disciplined endowments.
Teachers encourage learning
through exploration, as well as building confidence through experimentation and
communication. Pupils discover how to develop their own unique gifts and to
celebrate those of others.
At SIS we provide high quality,
purposefully planned play opportunities that enable children to develop and
flourish. We place equal importance on both the inside and outside environments
and ensure that each area stimulates the children’s imagination. Our spacious
learning environments enable children to be active learners, become independent
and develop creative and critical thinking skills. We introduce the skills
through the core curriculum, namely Language Arts, Math , Science and Social
Studies, and this curriculum is complimented by distinctive and variety of
Technology, Art and Physical Education along with swimming Classes. Arabic
Language along with Islamic Studies are also available beginning in
Kindergarten.
Middle School
Grades 6-8

emphasizes academics, effective development, creativity, individual and
collaborative student-oriented activities, communication skills, experiential
approaches to instruction, exploratory elective classes, and high school readiness.
Pupils become critical thinkers,
and gain a deeper understanding of their own morality, respect for themselves
and others, and ways they can truly make a difference in the world by serving
others.
The school is fully equipped to
give our pupils all the tools succeed in an increasingly integrated and
challenging world. We equip and provide the pupils with the skills they require
to solve confidently problems of their future. We prepare the pupils to be

Islamic Studies, Drama, and technology activities (Coding and Robotics).

Individualized Instruction
All pupils have the same academic
goals, but each pupil achieves them in different ways. Differentiated
instruction is integral to the SIS curriculum
at all grade levels. Teachers
utilize both whole and small group instruction, and assignments are customized
to meet individual pupil needs. Within all classroom lessons,
pupils are provided with
additional enrichment or support as needed.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Play provides opportunities for
children to experience learning in a meaningful and purposeful way. It is a
means by which children can develop the skills and capabilities to be effective
learners. Play provides a context for children to access the content of the
curriculum. At SIS opportunities are given to children to build on previous
experiences and make connections in their learning in an enjoyable manner. The
environment encourages children to develop positive dispositions and share
ownership of their learning. The teachers provide opportunities for the pupils
to engage in effective learning within a safe and secure learning environment.
This reflects how students learn at SIS. Play involves providing a wide variety
of worthwhile experiences which will develop the children’s knowledge, skills
and understanding. During play students are given opportunities to:
•Manage information
•Think, solve problems and make
decisions
•Be creative
•Work with others
•Self-manage
PROJECT BASED LEARNING
Our framework of learning is
centered on engagement and intrinsic motivation. At SIS we strongly believe that pupils respond favorably to choices where
they can take ownership over their work and progress. Our guiding aim isto
create an environment where pupils feel moved to learn. Cultivating this
intrinsic motivation will make for engaged and passionate learners who can
succeed academically. This can be achieved through the integration of
interactive, collaborative and project-based learning in the classroom, with an
aim to develop critical thinking skills in learners. Connecting curriculum to
real-world experiences provides pupils with a context for their learning; it
results in transferable skills and knowledge which can be taken outside of the
classroom. It is our aim to build a learning environment which keeps up with
the development of our global world and equips pupils with the skills to
achieve their academic potential. Above all, our guiding principle is to create
an environment where learners feel safe, confident and empowered to embrace
learning with interest and enthusiasm.
"We are learning through
projects because in the future we will have to do projects and not read things
out of a book and memorize it."
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Extra-curricular activities are
provided to pupils to develop their social, organizational, and technical
skills. Through these extra-curricular activities, students can learn about
teamwork, leadership, discipline, empathy, respect and resilience.
